VIRULENCE FACTORS, ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE, AND ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY OF ENTEROCOCCUS SPP. ISOLATED FROM DIFFERENT SOURCES IN ALGERIA

This study aimed to isolate and identify different Enterococcus spp. from diverse sources including dromedary raw milk, rhizospheric soil natural saline water samples determine their antimicrobial activities safety aspects. From these sources, distinct strains of E. faecium, durans, hirae, gallinarum species were detected. No virulence factors observed for six while none the tested Enterococci harboured genes encoding cytolysin aggregation substance. All showed a high sensitivity many antibiotics, particularly vancomycin, exhibited remarkable antagonist activity toward Salmonella typhimurium, Fusarium graminearum Penicillium expansum. PCR testing enterocins revealed co-presence entA entB among all Enterococci. hemolytic reaction was also detected in isolates, except strains. Based on findings, potential candidates use as biocontrol agents or probiotic starters selected further studies.
